Adapting to Climate Change

Resilient communities understand that food security means adapting to the reality of climate change.  As unpredictable temperature and weather patterns are the hallmark of climate change, both backyard gardeners and farmers need to rethink their growing practices.

“Adaptability is making adjustments and preparing for observed or expected change in climate, in order to moderate harm and to take advantage of new opportunities.”  Excerted from: Saanich Climate Change Adaptation Plan

How can you prepare for climate change in your growing efforts?

Seedy Saturday has 2 different talks you can join:

The Crop Climate Project, with Dr Richard Hebda, at 11:30 am and

Nimble and Flexible: can we adapt to climate changes mid-season, panel session with Mary Alice Johnson and Linda Gilkeson, 3pm, Feb 15th.
