Enjoy our Winter Wonderland

Enjoy our Winter Wonderland

We’re not talking about the snowflakes & chestnuts roasting on an open fire thing. Because we all know that our coastal winter has more of a green and squishy nature, rather like a slug. But, soggy though it is, it has its advantages, including that we can harvest fresh vegetables from the garden all winter.

So, if your idea of “wonderland” includes lots of fresh kale with a few Brussels sprouts tossed in, come to this year’s Seedy Saturday to find out how to improve and expand your winter harvest.

Linda Gilkeson, author of three books for coastal gardeners, will talk about which veggies and cultivars give you the best chance of a successful winter harvest, how to prepare the soil, when to plant, how to protect your crops from the elements, and more.

“Next Winter’s Harvest: Start Right Now”, February 16, 10:15 am at the Victoria Conference Centre, 720 Douglas Street, is included in your admission to Victoria’s Seedy Saturday on a first-come-first-get-the-seats basis. Seedy Saturday runs from 10 to 4, admission $7, free for the under-12s.
