Tina Baynes, of Corner Farm, will be giving a one-hour talk on winter squash – a nutritional powerhouse that’s particularly valuable because it can be stored for use during the winter months.
Come hear her, and you’ll leave knowing how to grow winter squash, cook winter squash, preserve winter squash…. and how to save seed so you can do it all over again next year.
What’s a winter squash? Tina will introduce us to the main types, their attractive shapes and colours, and a bit about their histories. (Yes, a squash can have a past!) It’s a talk positively squashed full of information.
A Feast of Squash, February 16, 11:30 am at the Victoria Conference Centre, 720 Douglas Street, is included in your admission to Victoria’s Seedy Saturday on a first-come-first-get-the-seats basis. Seedy Saturday runs from 10 to 4, admission $7, free for the under-12s.
