It’s a Seedy Trade-ition

Seedy Saturday began as a seed exchange, and trading local seeds is still at its heart, so don’t miss the seed exchange tables on your visit. Bring in any surplus seeds you’ve saved, cleaned and labelled with the name and year saved . You can either trade them for other seeds or just drop them off for someone else to enjoy. No seeds to trade? You can buy seeds from the exchange for a very modest sum. Perfect if you are on a limited budget, or the kind of person who never met a seed you didn’t like.

A couple of years ago we added a very popular garden book exchange, which works in exactly the same way. So if you have basic garden books that you’ve now “outgrown”, bring them in and trade them for something more useful to you now. And let a beginning gardener get a great deal on your training wheels.

We once (very) briefly considered adding a tool exchange, but quickly came to our senses and realized that people carrying hoes and pitchforks through Seedy Saturday was A Very Bad Idea indeed. So, seeds and books it is – bring in your old ones, get something new (to you), pass it on, get good karma. It’s Free Trade, Seedy Saturday style.

Victoria Seedy Saturday happens February 20, 10-4 at the Victoria Conference Centre.
