In the winter, that is. And usually not a drop for your plants to drink, when they really need it in July and August.
What can you do about it? Come to Seedy Saturday, where Tayler Krawczyk of Hatchet and Seed will show us innovative ways to store more water in our gardens by moving the earth around.
He’ll talk about how we can copy nature’s own patterns to keep that all that winter dampness in our gardens a bit longer. Find out about rain gardens, hugelkultur swales, ponds, and more – your thirsty plants will thank you for it! (Well, maybe not thank, exactly – but at least they’ll look a bit perkier.)
Moving Earth to Store Water in Your Garden, February 16, 12:45 pm at the Victoria Conference Centre, 720 Douglas Street, is included in your admission to Victoria’s Seedy Saturday on a first-come-first-get-the-seats basis. Seedy Saturday runs from 10 to 4, admission $7, free for the under-12s.
